It seems to be a growing trend here in Sydney for restaurants that once served meat and dairy to go totally vegan. Following on the heels of Gigi in Newtown came Soul Burger in Randwick, a formerly meat and cheese heavy burger joint that's switched over to a more ethical menu.
Soul Burger keeps it simple with a few burger options, a variety of fries to choose from, and a selection of milkshakes. We decided to split the Spicy Sausage Burger and the Classic Cheeseburger. I definitely preferred the cheeseburger--the pickles were super tasty paired with the vegan creamy cheese and aioli. The buns were a bit dry but it wasn't anything some extra aioli couldn't fix! The Spicy Sausage burger wasn't a patty, it was two sliced sausages which I found a bit awkward to eat. The flavors were nice, though!
We also ordered a salted caramel milkshake to try and holllllyyyyy yum it was so good. Probably the best milkshake I've ever ordered, Soulburger makes their ice creams in house using coconut and soy. It was creamy and sweet without being overpowering. Ordering a salted caramel shake is 100% necessary when eating at Soulburger!
To fill your vegan burger cravings, Soulburger's got your covered. Go with the simple Classic cheeseburger, you won't regret it.
