Ahh, Franchia Vegan Cafe, how I wish you were in LA! If you love Asian food, like me, Franchia Vegan Cafe is a must-go! Their entirely plant-based menu is unlike any vegan Asian restaurant menu I've seen, and the food is quite good.
Most vegan Asian restaurants offer solid classics like Pad Thai, curries, avocado rolls, fresh spring rolls, etc. While Franchia does offer some popular dishes like those, they also have unexpected delights like their dim sum buns, "duck" buns, "scallop" rolls, etc. I love that! I've never had real scallops before, so it's really fun to try a restaurants vegan take on it.
The dim sum buns were by far my favorite thing we ordered. I wish I could've just gotten two or three servings of them! They were so good, fluffy and soft with a savory mixed vegetable center. I love that they were served in the authentic bamboo steamer, too! The duck buns were probably my least favorite thing we ordered but I think it's because it was seasoned with mushrooms and I'm not a huge mushroom fan. The veggie dumplings were super flavorful and the scallop rolls were interesting and delicious.
Franchia Vegan Cafe is a bit on the pricey side (about $10 for really small portions). I didn't leave feeling super full, which bums me out a little, but the great tasting food made up for the high price tag. I'd 100% go back to Franchia Vegan Cafe, but just not when I'm super hangry!
