Sage Bali

Sage Bali was by far the best place I went to in Bali. It's a beautiful, bright restaurant with an entirely vegan menu. For dinner, I've tried the Jackfruit Tacos (bomb!), the Tempeh Buffalo Wings, the Flautas, the Gorditas, and the Lodestar Sandwich. I especially loved that the tortillas were homemade...so yummy! I also went back to Sage for breakfast a few times. The Pink Dragon Smoothie Bowl is, to this day, my favorite breakfast ever. Prices are good, portions are perfect, and the food is on point.

Bali Buddha

Bali Buddha is a cool spot because they serve up vegan versions of popular Indonesian dishes, so I got to sample some of the country's most notable dishes. While the food wasn't amazing, I did appreciate being able to try an entirely plant-based version of Nasi Campur. The restaurant is bright and airy with an extensive smoothie list (try the Raw Vegan Tropical Smoothie!). Prices are inexpensive and portions are good.

Taco Casa

Travel has made me wary of trying any Mexican food outside California, but when we had exhausted our palette for rice and veggies, my friends and I decided to give the bustling Taco Casa in Ubud a surprise. We were happy to see a sign right out front promising that they don't use lard. We also were excited to see how many different Mexican-style dishes they offered! Burritos, tacos, nachos, salads...we were pretty much in heaven. I decided to build my own burrito and what I got was surprisingly delicious. The pinto beans were refried to perfection, the guac was awesome, the pico de gallo was spicy, and the cilantro lime rice was zingy and flavorful. It's safe to say that Ubud surprised me with it's near-perfect Mexican food at Taco Casa!

Other notable eateries in Ubud:

-Alchemy (healthy and raw with a very high price tag)

-Kafe (a great place to go with non-vegans as they cater to both diets)

-Seeds of Life (a raw vegan restaurant--try the Lasagna and stay away from the breakfast burrito)
